🌑 Stage Eight: Emptiness in the Void – Finding Peace in the Unknown

August Blog | The 12 Stage of Healing – Stage 8 | Dr. Codi Osborne, Innately Yours Chiropractic Studio

After the intensity of Stage Seven’s breakthrough, it might seem like the next phase would be excitement or clarity. But instead… comes silence. Stillness. A sense of emptiness.

Welcome to Stage Eight: Emptiness in the Void.

This stage can be disorienting, especially in a culture that pushes us to always “do” and “fix.” But in NetworkSpinal, we honor the void as sacred space—a place where true transformation can begin to root itself, free from distraction or identity.

It’s not nothingness, it’s potential.

🌀 What Is the Void?

In Stage Eight, you may feel:

  • Numb or neutral, no strong emotions, just stillness
  • Like you’re between versions of yourself
  • Disconnected from past patterns, but not yet connected to what’s next

It’s like standing in a doorway with the old self behind you… and the new self not yet visible. It can feel empty, but it’s also profoundly free.

Dr. Donald Epstein teaches that this stage is where the nervous system pauses to reorganize itself without interference. This “void” isn’t a vacuum, it’s a womb.

đź’¬ My Experience With Stage Eight

I’ll be honest, this is one of the stages that challenged me the most. I’m a doer. A fixer. A feeler. So when I first experienced the void, it was uncomfortable. Where’s the emotion? Where’s the story? What am I supposed to do?

But as I sat in that space and kept receiving Network care, I realized: I didn’t have to do anything. The absence was the medicine. My nervous system wasn’t broken or shut down. It was recalibrating.

And that stillness created the space for the next level of healing.

🧠 What Happens in the Nervous System

In Stage Eight, your system isn’t checked out, it’s paused for reorganization. You might notice:

  • A sense of detachment or neutrality
  • Fewer reactive thoughts or emotional triggers
  • A soft, quiet wave pattern during entrainments

This is when the body integrates the changes from earlier stages and lays the groundwork for new ways of being.

🛠️ Supporting the Void

You don’t need to rush through Stage Eight. Trust it. Nourish it.

  • Stillness Practice: Lay quietly and breathe. Let yourself not know.
  • Journaling Prompt: “What if I don’t need to have the answer right now?”
  • Movement: Minimal. Think gentle rest, floating, or even nature walks with no agenda.

Sometimes, doing “nothing” is the most healing thing you can do.

🤍 Let’s Connect

If you’re feeling neutral, detached, or uncertain—not in crisis, but not in clarity either—you may be in Stage Eight. It’s okay to feel like you’re in between. You are.

Ask us how this stage might relate to your care journey. You’re not lost. You’re resting in the space where healing breathes and reorganizes.

With reverence for the quiet,
Dr. Codi
